What is Pre-finished engineered real wood flooring?

Pre-finished engineered real wood flooring is an all-wood product with a 3-layer cross directional construction. The top layer must be a thick durable layer of wood that can be sanded several times giving the product a lifetime to match that of your home. The middle layer is made of coniferous timber fillets and the bottom layer is a conifer veneer base. Thanks to this cross-glued three layer structure, engineered real wood flooring virtually eliminates visible material expansion and contraction in real wood floors. This makes engineered real wood floors very stable and allows them to be installed over under-floor heating (although beech and maple are not recommended for this purpose).

Why Choose Wood?

Real wood floors enhance any property, new or old, and never go unnoticed, with the natural warm feeling of nature at your feet.

Hardwood floors are very durable and if looked after properly, will last many years, easily out lasting any carpet and adding value to property at the same time.

Real Wood floors are easily cleaned and maintained and are hygienic as they won't attract dust mites and fleas etc. They make a specially good choice for asthma sufferers.

Skirting to compliment your floor

An important consideration is the treatment of the floor edges where it abuts walls, doors and other obstacles.

The best method is to remove any existing skirting boards, install the floor, and then replace with new skirting. This gives the floor a more integral appearance.

An option for those on tighter budgets is to use Scotia beading around the floor to hide the expansion gap between the floor and wall.

Advantages of engineered real wood flooring

Long wide planks of hardwood with a multi-layer, all wood, cross directional core.
More dimensionally stable than solid wood floors because each engineered layer of an individual plank runs in a different direction to the next layer.
All wood cross directional construction virtually eliminates visible material expansion and contraction in real wood floors.
Thick durable top layer that can be easily sanded and refinished several times to either improve or change their looks. This insures the home owner a lifetime of serviceability.
Very stable and allows them to be installed over under-floor heating (although beech and maple are not recommended for this purpose).
Warrantied for use over radiant heat sub-floors.
Smooth square edge fit that ensures a flat level surface through out the floor area.
Prefinished at the factory with a durable UV cured polyurethane acrylic finish which contains no harmful solvents.
A good financial investment. According to a recent survey by the National Wood Flooring Association, more than 80% of real estate agents said that homes with hardwood floors attract more buyers than homes without hardwood floors, and that prospective home buyers consider hardwood floors a sign of quality construction
